Dr Duncan Carmichael is a medical doctor with twenty-five years of experience in the profession. He is a regular speaker at conferences on aesthetic and anti-ageing medicine in his home country and abroad, and has written numerous articles on healthy ageing.
He qualified in South Africa, then trained further in Europe where he studied nutrition, hormone balancing and aesthetic medicine.
Frustrated with the medical world's focus on treating illness rather than on promoting health, his passion has long been health medicine. He founded an runs the Institute of Healthy Aging in Cape Town, South Africa, and another in Dorset in the United Kingdom.
Younger for Longer is the culmination of his twenty-five-year quest, and is Dr Carmichael's first book. His wide range of training combined with his clinical expertise makes him uniquely well qualified to write this book and share what he has learned abot longevity and health.
From the moment we are born, ageing is an inevitable part of life. And yet most people fear ageing and its effects on the body and mind.
But what if we could make changes now that would slow the negative effects of ageing, keeping us active and happy? What if we could approach old age knowing we had given ourselves the best chance to be free from illness? And what if we could stay mentally and physically healthy until the end?
The good news is that we can.
In Younger for Longer, noted healthy ageing specialist Dr Duncan Carmichael has compiled two decades of knowledge in an accessible yet authoritative book that explains:
- Why our lifestyle choices are such a key part of healthy ageing for men and women;
- How it is that some foods we thought were healthy are anything but;
- What effects stress has on our body;
- How our hormones - which are at the centre of the ageing process - fluctuate through our lives, and how we can manage those changes to our advantage;
- And much more besides, including how to combat ageing in our organs such as the liver, the skin and the brain.
Your body is far more than the sum of its component parts. Younger for Longer outlines them, shows how they interact and then explains what actions to take - and why doing so will help you achieve your best possible life.
There is a better way to age. This book will show you how.
