Professor P Spurgeon Professor Peter Spurgeon is a previous Director of the Health Services Management Centre, University of Birmingham and established the Institute of Clinical Leadership at the Medical School, Warwick University. He led the national project that developed the Medical Leadership Competency Framework (MLCF) which was endorsed by the General Medical Council and subsequently adapted for all clinical professionals as the Clinical Leadership Competency Framework (CLCF). He leads the work nationally and internationally on medical engagement and its link to organisational performance. Currently he is also working on a new, proactive risk based approach to improving patient safety and also measuring organisational safety culture. Paul W. Long Is the author of many high profile reports, articles and academic papers, on systems approaches to improving the quality of healthcare. Paul lived in the United Kingdom for a number of years where he led research to test the applicability of generic leadership competences across all of the clinical professions. Paul s work was recognised when, in July 2011, the then Secretary of State for Health launched the new NHS Leadership Framework and companion Clinical Leadership Competency Framework. Now living in Australia and running a busy management consultancy practice, Paul is also a Visiting Fellow of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Australian Institute for Health Innovation, Macquarie University. Jane Powell Jade is a registered nurse with over 28 years experience in healthcare. Jane has spent most of her clinical time in cardiology. Has held senior management posts at local and regional level, becoming West Midlands Regional Coordinator for the implementation of the Coronary Heart Disease National Service Framework and representing the West Midlands on national committees at the Department of Health. An advisor to the Commission for Health Improvement now the Care Quality Commission. Also Jane has worked in academia as Director for Business Development and Innovation and as an independent healthcare consultant working with the World Health Organisation. Jade is currently the Clinical Operations Manager for a national wound care company. Prof Mary Lovegrove, OBE Mary Lovegrove is a Diagnostic Radiographer by profession. In 2012 she was awarded an OBE for her work supporting Allied Health Professions. She currently has a portfolio career partly as International Lead for the School of Health and Social Care based at the London South Bank University and as Director of Allied Health Solutions. She holds a personal chair in Education and Development of Allied Health Professionals with particular interests in clinical leadership, service transformation and workforce development. Mary s contribution has gone beyond her own profession to being a strong advocate of all Allied Health professionals. This has led her to make significant contributions to the education and development of the clinical professional workforce. Mary also has long-standing international interests overseas particularly in the Far East (Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore) where she continues to have an education advisory role.
