This early work by A. E. Coppard was originally published in 1923 and we are now republishing it with a brand new introductory biography as part of our Cryptofiction Classics series. 'The Tiger' is a short story about the arrival of a newly captured Indian Tiger as an addition to an exhibition of exotic creatures. A. E. Coppard was born in Folkestone, England in 1878. Coppard became a full-time writer in 1919, publishing his first collection of stories, 'Adam and Eve and Pinch Me', in 1921. From this point onwards he was a prolific author of short tales, many of which featured fantastical descriptions of rural England.
