It also clarifies why people suffer from drug addiction and alcoholism and explains how they can gain permanent relief. Dr. Von Stieff’s methods of establishing balance in individuals’ neurochemicals have provided record-breaking lasting results for patients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area that have left people wondering — How does he do it? His answer, “It’s all in the neurotransmitters.” With this book, his goal is to help medical staff and counselors everywhere provide the best treatment possible, and encourage individuals to seek a higher quality of life.

Dr. Von Stieff is a board-certified addictionologist and a recognized expert in the field of chemical dependency treatment. He has successfully detoxified over 25,000 patients and helped countless others to understand the science behind addiction. He has worked as the Medical Director for hospital-based chemical dependency programs for over twenty years and is certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine, the American Society of Addiction Medicine, and the California Society of Addiction Medicine. A legal expert in substance abuse, Dr. Von Stieff previously served as the Chief Medical Review Officer for the State of California, carrying additional titles in that field. A recipient of countless awards, Dr. Von Stieff has been featured on television to promulgate his revolutionary methods in chemical dependency treatment. He was ranked in the top one percent of doctors in California after San Francisco Magazine designated him as a “Top Doc”. The Joint Chiefs of Hospital Accreditation recently labeled his work and its success rate as “miraculous.” Dr. Von Stieff’s work proves there is much more behind addiction than just a series of bad life choices. He has dedicated years to studying the neurotransmitter systems of the brain, discovering connections among them, and taking careful note of their reactions to various drugs and medications. Patterns of particular neurochemical imbalances linking to certain cravings and addictions emerged, leading to the advancement of his treatment methods. He also witnessed strong connections between substance abuse and psychological problems like depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorders. Now he uses all this information to provide the most cutting-edge and effective treatment for victims of alcoholism and substance abuse. Dr. Von Stieff firmly believes in the power of educating his patients and spends much of his time teaching them about the brain and how their neurotransmitters work. This knowledge empowers them with the understanding necessary to make better decisions, putting control back into their hands. As an addictionologist, Dr. Von Stieff’s expertise in the field of neurochemistry, in addition to his years of experience and research, has enabled him to help thousands of patients triumphantly battle alcoholism, substance abuse, craving, and addiction by establishing lasting balance in their neurochemicals.
