Synopsis

Based upon a true story, a young man is picked up a mile's distance from the scene of a crime by police who were given the vaguest description. The suspect, or Charlie as the cops call him, has fresh scratches on his face and he cannot be positively identified by a witness, yet he is charged with rape. Is he the victim of sloppy police work as his attorney contends? Is he a victim of police avenging a former colleague? Or is the young man really the vicious criminal the police contend he is with a pattern of behavior to back them up? The local police detective claims his case against a bewildered young man is a "slam dunk" or is it?
