Her research focuses on science fiction, young adult literature, the American West, contemporary American literature (in particular African American), and ecocriticism. She lives in Baltimore, Maryland.

Donald E. Palumbo is a professor of English at East Carolina University. He lives in Greenville, North Carolina.
