Clare DeGraaf is a follower of Jesus, an elder, Bible teacher, and blogger. For more than thirty years, he’s been a full-time spiritual mentor of men all over the world—from college students to business and church leaders. At age thirty-one, a crisis of faith led Clare to reject his cultural Christianity, sell his successful manufacturing business, and devote the balance of his life to serving God. Clare and his wife, Susan, live in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and are the parents of six children and grandparents of fifteen.

The Lay of the Land

I’ve divided this book into three parts, or sections. In the balance of this section of the book, which I’ve entitled “The Principles,” and over the next few chapters, I’ll introduce you to the five foundational principles that make the 10-Second Rule work in real life. Then, in “The Practices” section, you’ll find all kinds of stories that give flesh to the Rule in ways that may surprise you. Finally, in “The Preparations,” I’ll share helpful ideas that will encourage you to prepare yourself to live with renewed hope and anticipation on this amazing journey following Jesus!
