Synopsis

In disgrace, Liz leaves in hopes of a fresh beginning, where no one will know of her shame. She arrives in San Francisco during the Summer of Love and is pulled into the scene of groovy young people and free love. She joins a commune with a curious mix-match roomies: Black Panthers trying to change the world, Vietnam vet seeking inner peace, flamboyant hairdresser ready for fame and love, and a flower child with her drug dealer boyfriend who changes girlfriends often. Soon Liz becomes embroiled in drug running and a plot to bring down the Black Panthers. She now has to make life or death choices. No one expects anything heroic from Liz. The story is a vividly recounted tale of lies, plots, sex, drugs and murder that takes place during an unforgettable time in history.

June Ahern is the author of "The Timeless Counselor: The Best Guide to a Psychic Reading" and a novel, "The Skye in June". Ms. Ahern, like some of her main characters, was born in Glasgow Scotland and in the mid-1950's immigrated to California U.S.A. In the 1960's she came of age in San Francisco. She lives in Northern California with her husband.
