Synopsis

Most of the world's religions have an almost continuous stream of adherents who long for and seek after holiness of heart, however "holiness of heart" may be defined. This book treats an expression of this phenomenon within the Dutch Reformed Church. At the same time it compares this expression with the Wesleyan experience of the same.

À propos de l'auteur

Jacob Overduin is a retired minister in the Church of the Nazarene in the Netherlands. He lives with his wife of 51 years in the Netherlands. He is the thankful father of 3 married sons, 1 married daughter and the proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren. He holds an MDiv degree from Fuller Seminary, Pasadena, California and a DMin degree from Nazarene Seminary, Kansas City, Missouri. Rev. Overduin was born in the Netherlands to a family with strong Dutch Reformed roots. He emigrated to the U.S. when he was 19 years old. He studied Engineering in California and worked for 20 years in the Aerospace industry until he received a calling to work in Christian Ministry. Although raised within the Reformed tradition, through life changing events, he became convicted of the Wesleyan-Arminian persuasion and consequently connected with the Nazarene Church. After graduating from Fuller Seminary he was called to the Netherlands, pastored several churches and served for 8 years as District Superintendent. His extensive pastoral experience with Christians from strong reformed churches and who did not find their Christian faith relevant, moved him to study Dutch Church history in an attempt to help these Christians find new meaning to their faith.
