Traditional Christians accept the gospel accounts of Christ without question; Christian critics generally reject all of the miraculous elements of the gospels. This book offers a proposed alternative that accepts the accuracy of the gospel accounts while postulating possible alternative understandings of the miraculous elements. The result is a "new" biography of The Life of Christ that removes the necessity of wholesale acceptance of miracles (such as the Virgin Birth, the Star of Bethlehem, and so forth) while still adhering strictly to the gospel narratives. This is the first of 4 books that use this approach to examine The Life of Christ (1), The Miracles of Christ (2), The Resurrection of Christ (3), and The Teachings of Christ (4). This current edition of the text is revised from the original to make the material more accessible to the typical reader; no major changes have been made to content.

R B Chamberlain (Bob) spent 30 years in middle management in the Aircraft Engine business of one of America's largest industrial businesses. During this time, he pursued formal education that led to a PhD in Cultural Anthropology (with a concentration in Comparative Religions) and a ThD (with a concentration in Christian Apologetics). He teaches World Religions at Brevard Community College (Florida), and has had a life-long interest in religion and theology; his particular field of interest falls within the field of New Religious Movements. Over his life-time, he has formally been a member of 3 different faith traditions, and has been baptized (or the equivalent) by 6 different traditions. Philosophically, his view of religion is that expressed by Aristotle in the opening line of his classic text, Metaphysics - "All men by nature desire to know." This means that all texts should strive to provide the reader with more information by the end than they had at the outset, for only through exploring added information can we ever hope to learn, or to know.
