In a past life, he was a professional bass guitarist, but retired to try something easier—science. He has a doctorate in microbiology and numerous professional publications on subjects guaranteed to cure insomnia in a casual reader. His work allows him to travel the world where he constantly searches for the best wines to accompany his voracious reading habit. He and his wife live in Lincoln, Nebraska.
