Synopsis

Guidelines for Vedic Knowledge is a supplement to Vedic Knowledge Text Book, the eleventh part of the Purna Vidya books for teaching children Vedic tradition and culture. This book provides adults with guidelines which include a structured lesson plan and guidelines to the fun filled and intellectually challenging group discussions contained in the Vedic Knowledge Text Book. It contains additional information on the topics contained in the Text Book with instructions on how to teach a given lesson. Included in this part are two prayers, Sri Nama Ramayana and Sri Hanuman Chalisa which are commonly recited prayers in Sanskrit, and Brij languages printed in Devanagiri script, with a corresponding English transliteration, a word by word meaning and an explanation of the meaning of the verses. Sri Nama Ramayana is a prayer addressed to the Lord Rama. It is a prayer in the form of names of Sri Rama that not only describe his glories but also summarize the life of Sri Rama and serves as a summary of Ramayana. Hanuman Chalisa is a prayer to the Lord Hanuman the great devotee of Sri Rama. It consists of forty verses praising Sri Hanumanji, his deeds, devotion and glories. Also explained in the Guidelines is the sixteen step puja usually performed in Vedic tradition with explanation and meaning. Also provided is a syllabus that includes lessons and assignments based on weekly class for an academic year and a bibliography to assist the teacher or parent with further references.

Swamini Pramananda is a teacher of Vedanta and Sanskrit. She is an ordained Hindu monk. Additionally, she completed her graduate studies in biological science in the US. She has been involved in initiating and running empowerment programs for tribals in India. She travels, conducts seminars, spiritual retreats and shares her knowledge across the world. She has been a speaker at various international forums of spiritual leaders as a representative of Hindu tradition. Sri Dhira Chaitanya, aka Dr. Sundar Ramaswamy is a child psychiatrist by profession. He is an ordained teacher of Vedanta and also teaches Sanskrit language. His unique background as a professional and teacher of religious studies provides him with unique insights into both psychological issues and spiritual pursuit. He can address audiences of all ages and spends his time in travels, conducting seminars, religious retreats, and lectures all over the world. Swamini Pramananda and Sri Dhira Chaitanya have authored Purna Vidya, a twelve year program designed to provide teaching material and tools to adults for teach children and teens Vedic Heritage and Culture. Constituted of twelve parts, it covers religious and cultural topics, Vedic literature, fine art, religious disciplines, and psychological insights for teenagers. It is used as a school curriculum and in community classes for children in several countries and has been translated in Hindi, Tamil and Gujarati languages.
