H. Brian Rawson was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, but moved to Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, where he attended Eastern Military Academy in Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island. After the Vietnam War draft was canceled, Rawson turned to journeymen work. In 1976, however, his life took a strange twist. His father worked as a film editor for Columbia Pictures in New York City. One day as Rawson was visiting his father, a feature film assistant director and producer, Lou Stroller, came into the office. When he found out Rawson was unemployed, Stroller offered him a job on the motion picture Eyes of Laura Mars, to become a production assistant and personal assistant to Faye Dunaway. From that day on, for the next fifteen years, Rawson worked his way up the production ladder to assistant director on numerous feature films, including such hits as the first two Crocodile Dundee films and the television show Tales From the Darkside. It was from this background that Rawson developed the idea for Secrets of a Universe. When production issues in the early 1990s threatened a film work stoppage, Rawson packed up and left New York City with his wife, Colleen, and moved to Brownsville, Pennsylvania, her home town. Life was good until 2000, when catastrophe struck. Rawson was afflicted with Hodgkin’s Disease, and after a year of chemo and radiation, he was pronounced in remission. But, in 2001, he was again knocked off his feet by the first of seven heart attacks. Over the next eleven years, Rawson survived everything that goes with severe cardiac disease. Now permanently disabled, Rawson decided to complete all the stories stored in his head that he wanted to do on film in novel form. Secrets of a Universe is the first of many, so buckle your seat belts. The strange mind of H. Brian Rawson is only now opening up.
