John M. Eger, is Van Deerlin Professor of Communications and Director of the Creative Economy Initiative at SDSU. Earlier he was Director of the White House Office of Telecommunications Policy, and an executive of CBS Inc. More recently he was Chair of the Governor’s Commission on Information Technology; Chair of the Governor’s Committee on Education and Technology; and Chair of San Diego Mayor’s “City of the Future” Committee. His research focuses on creativity, innovation, education and economic development. Recently he authored, "Art Education and the Innovation Economy: Ensuring America’s Success in the 21st Century.”
