Practical tips and sources of further information are provided at the end of each chapter........... Edited by Professor Peter Totterdell (University of Sheffield) and Dr. Karen Niven (Manchester Business School), this offbeat science book is the work of a team of psychologists who conduct research on a wide range of issues relating to emotion. Proceeds from the book will go to a mental health charity and to fund research on emotion........... CONTENTS: PART I: EMOTIONS - ARE ABOUT WHAT? What is an emotion? What good are emotions anyway? About The Editors: Peter Totterdell is a Professor in the Psychology Department at Sheffield University, UK, and a Fellow of the British Psychological Society. Much of his research focuses on studying emotion in applied settings. He has published over 60 journal papers, as well as books and book chapters. Peter led the UK ESRC-funded large grant ‘Emotion Regulation of Others and Self’ (2008-2012), which involved many of the researchers who have contributed chapters to this book (for more details see http://www.erosresearch.org)..... Karen Niven is a Lecturer in Organisational Psychology at Manchester Business School, Manchester University, UK. Her research focuses on the ways that people try to control their own and particularly others' emotions. She is interested in what drives these attempts to control emotion and what consequences these attempts have for people's lives. Karen has conducted studies in various social settings, including workplaces, romantic relationships, peer groups, and even prisons, to explore these issues.
