Career Switch offers readers a totally new kind of career guidance book; one that readers might compare to having coffee with a good friend. It is aimed at women over thirty-five who have just been laid off, who have spent many years out of the workforce raising kids, who have put aside work they care about in exchange for a steady paycheck, or who just want to do work they don’t think of as drudgery. At the very least, this book is certain to give the reader a little thrill at the thought that it’s never too late to drop into the kind of career and work she truly cares about. A delightful combination of personal essay and writing exercises, Ward asks of herself and her readers these deceptively simple questions: • What will you never tire of? • What will you keep doing until the day you die because it’s as natural for you as breathing and as joyful as play? • Who can you not help but be? • What can you not help but do?

Melani Ward is a former history teacher, counselor, and athletic coach turned serial career hopper. These days she works as a copywriter, content creator, and career switch enthusiast. She spent the first twenty years of her career hell bent on doing work she cares about and now hopes to help others do the same. She holds graduate degrees in counselor education and sociology, and when not writing, she enjoys playing with her husband, daughter, and dog in the playground that is Boulder, Colorado.
