Synopsis

Echoes of Grace is a compilation of verses from the heart of the author. Kay was diagnosed with systemic lupus when she was sixteen years old. Having numerous hospital visits, she started having allergic reactions to various pain medications; hence, she turned to faith and praying. These are the words of comfort, and sometimes anguish, that she described hearing in her heart during some of her most sorrowful times. I pray that as you read and reflect on these poems, they may bring you into a greater relationship with God.

À propos de l'auteur

Kay Elizabeth Grant Lawrence was born on August 7, 1970, in Montego Bay, on the beautiful island of Jamaica. She is the second youngest in a family of eleven brothers and sisters. She is the wife of retired marine James Lawrence for seventeen years and the mother of two children. After receiving a BS in human biology and physical education from the G. C. Foster College in Jamaica. Kay continued to pursue an MEd in curriculum and instruction. Her very diverse educational career has allowed her to teach in countries such as Japan, Jamaica, and the United States for fifteen years, after which unforeseen circumstances forced her to quit. While pondering what she thought was a tragedy in her life, she found solace in serving the elderly and homeless at the local community service ministry at her church. It was also in this period of seeking answers for her own purpose that her deep intimacy with Christ and her sense of purpose to serve in the ministry were developed. She knew God had given her a new path, not to service classrooms but a passion for the hurt that she was feeling. She decided to become a chaplain. She wanted to minister to the sick, and then she heard about Clinical Pastoral Education. This has allowed her to better find herself. It helped her to become a better spiritual caregiver, in addition, but Kays greatest fulfillment comes from visiting and interacting with the patients, reading her poetry, and singing for them. Her writing career came from spending a critical twenty-seven days in the intensive care unit in excruciating pain caused by complications from lupus. She knows that there will be stumbling blocks as she presses forward, but she hopes to make some great stepping stones out of them.
