À propos de l'auteur

Jamal E.Bayati was born in Adhamiya, Iraq, into a Kurdish, Muslim, family, but grew up within an 'Arab community. He arrived in America after graduation from high school to pursue higher education, with little money in his pocket. He worked his way though college, married and established roots for his family. He received three degrees, worked at a multinational corporation, where he received additional training, taught a course at the company, became expert in his field, published numerous technical papers, and became an executive at the company. He continued his interest in politics and religion, and became a president of an Islamic society. The turmoil in his "old country" during Saddam's rule, the war with Iran and the two Gulf Wars shattered his extended family, scores of them escaped to foreign land after they were given a 24-hour notice, written in blood to leave the country. His goal in writing the 5-volume book was to describe the society in which he was born, including social and religious practices, customs, taboos, the history of his city of birth, Baghdad, Iraq, and Islam. In addition, he developed his own interpretation of the Message of Islam. He used his own biography as a jumping point to these subject.
