Synopsis

Most of us know and understand the difference between right and wrong. We have been conditioned by our culture, by religion and by secular beliefs enshrined in statements of Human Rights. How do you react to those who do not share these very basic concepts? Killing another person is wrong, but we also recognise that killing in self-defence is sometimes justifiable. Many would argue that helping the terminally ill to die is also justifiable. Killing children is almost universally taboo, and yet many thousands of children die every year. At what point do mitigating circumstances challenge our most fundamental principles? Would logic ever persuade you to abandon your most profound beliefs? .

À propos de l'auteur

J. Randolf Scott, a retired Chemical Engineer, and father of five children, lives in the heart of rural England with his youngest daughter. A prolific inventor and innovator, the author is also an artist and a Fellow of the Institution of Analysts and Programmers. In his own words, “As an artist I paint what I see, and in my books I paint in words what I see in my mind”. During his career he has travelled to most countries in the world, and this is reflected in the scope and subject matter of his writing. His novels cover a wide range of genres, from thrillers, to period romance and science fiction, and he admits that background research often takes much longer than writing the novel itself. In most of his novels he takes a simple moral issue to extreme limits and provokes his characters, and the reader, into confronting the issue in unconventional ways.
