Derek Summers has taught poetry to apprentice car mechanics and retired accountants. He believes poetry is a political act and has the potential to speak truth to power. He edited an anthology, The Foots and the Poets: Poetry and a Political Family, (Jarndyce, 2010) with the late Old Labour politician, Michael Foot. Derek’s poems have been published in various literary magazines. He and his wife live in Oxford, England but spend some of the year in France. They have two children and four granddaughters.
