A heartwarming true story of loyalty, love, and an unforgettable little dog.
In Greyfriars Bobby, Eleanor Atkinson brings to life one of Scotland’s most beloved legends—the tale of a devoted Skye terrier who sat faithfully on his master's grave for years, capturing the hearts of all of Edinburgh. Set in the 1860s, this timeless classic is much more than a story about a dog—it is a moving portrait of devotion, community, and quiet heroism.
Bobby, though only a small dog, leaves an enormous legacy. Through Atkinson’s wonderfully crafted prose, readers experience the Scottish capital with remarkable vividness—astonishing, considering the author never set foot there. Even more impressive is Atkinson’s deep insight into Bobby’s canine world. She convincingly shows how a dog might interpret human words and emotions, without ever slipping into fantasy.
“A love story like no other—loyal, fierce, and unforgettable.”
Whether you're drawn in by the faithful pup, the charming Scottish dialogue, or the richly imagined historical setting, Greyfriars Bobby offers an emotional journey for readers of all ages. Perfect for anyone who loves dogs, tales of true loyalty, or the misty streets of Auld Edinburgh.
