All of the stories in my book, “I Forgot That I Remembered,” are addressing issues that I have experienced with PD. I live in Sioux Falls, SD, with my wife of 32 years and our Yorkshire Terrier, T. Bone Dickens – both find their way into the pages of my book. I am 55 years old and was diagnosed in 2009 with Parkinson’s disease although I lived with it for years prior. I am an ordained Baptist pastor and hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in theology. I served as a pastor of a Baptist church in North Idaho for ten years. I currently write a humor column called "Wanderings Through My Ponderings" for the National Parkinson Foundation of South Dakota and sit on the board of the National Parkinson Foundation/South Dakota chapter. I sit on the board of the South Dakota Authors’ Association, and write a humor column for Plains Magazine, as well. After losing my job and unable to continue my hobby of fixing and repainting cars, I turned to writing. I always enjoyed creative writing, but rarely did it. I found that I actually physically feel better when I write creatively – it is fun. I began writing my memoirs and sent submitted stories to magazines and found others liked them. I find writing therapeutic and it fits into an unpredictable schedule – I write what I can, when I can.
