Synopsis

The poems in "Idle Thoughts" are presented with special thanks to the Poem of the Day Yahoo group where George Smith helps get our creative juices flowing each April and November by sharing daily poetry prompts from Robert Lee Brewer's Poetic Asides blog ( http://blog.writersdigest.com/poeticasides) . Without his help, I would write very little and spend all my time quilting or playing games on my Kindle. As I have mentioned in other notes, I am not a driven poet, but a driven quilter and part time poet! Included here are personal reflections, thoughts on writing, the world around us, and a giggle or two to make you smile. The inspirational/spiritual poems written this year are included in the book “All There Is” published in November 2012.

À propos de l?auteur

The author states: I am retired, living in Chiefland, FL and have found poetry to be a valued part of my life. My poetry reflects my faith and values and a deep love for God and family. My work has been published in various anthologies, small press magazines, Poetry Canada magazine, The Quilter magazine, The Joy of Living Poetry Collection by Hazel Street Publications, Sea Oats Review, Mahogany and Molasses, Verse-a-tility, Anthologies of the Florida State Poets Assoc., Inc., Of Poets and Poetry, The Easterner, Family Matters (an anthology by several familymembers), various other newsletters, and several poetry websites, blogs, and groups as well as her own seven books of poetry. I most often write rhyming poetry and have had to force myself to occasionally write those that do not rhyme just for the fun of the challenge. My poems are spiritual, or romantic, or amusing, or occasionally seem to beam in from some far alien universe. I began writing poetry in grade school, but picked it up again in the 1960's during a troubling time in my life when it was easier to put my feelings down on paper than to discuss them with anyone. All my thoughts, doubts, and fears became poems - a way to release emotions in private. But I have progressed over the years and my poetry these days dwells more on my faith and love of God. I'm not a "driven" writer who can't seem to put down her pen or step away from her keyboard. What I do seem to be is a driven quilter who occasionally finds inspiration for poetry while sitting quietly working on a quilt in my lap, or while sitting in church during Sunday service. It's those quiet time inspirations or the turn of a phrase from the pulpit which eventually become my next poem.
