Iraq on Their Doorstep presents a compelling account of the fears, pains, and difficult decisions faced by Iraqis, as well as Peter and Hazel’s own experiences as Westerners.

À propos de l'auteur

Peter Twele first moved to the Middle East in 1984. Following intensive Arabic studies, he carried out sociolinguistic research through a number of institutions: the American Center of Oriental Research, the American Institute for Yemeni Studies, and the Yemen Centre for Research and Studies. After their marriage, he and Hazel took up residence in Jordan. In addition to his work at the Phonetics Research Center at the University of Jordan, he continued with his Arabic dialect research. All three of their children were born during their eight years spent there. Peter has also taught in the Linguistics programs at both Trinity Western University in Langley, BC, and at the University of Texas in Arlington.
