Synopsis

Ivan Wallace a retired English Gentleman is a happy go lucky chap who comes across an abandoned ink pen on one of his many walks to the corner store. He brings the pen back to life with fresh ink and he names him Inky Blue. When nervous Inky Blue splutters ink and when he talks he stutters. He is introduced to Edwood, a number two pencil and Chopper, a grumpy pencil sharpener and they become known as The Pen Pals. They all live happily together in a pencil tin until a nasty computer called Ibum gets delivered to the house. A local army of crayons gets to hear about the trouble they are having and they are soon on the way to lend a hand.

Vanessa Gardner was born and raised in England and moved to the US at the age of thirty with her husband and daughter. Chronic illness forced her to spend several years at home resting which came hard to a woman who had always busied herself. Unable at times to do anything but lay in bed she re read some letters sent to her by her father from England. He had sent the letters as if the pens themselves were doing the talking which evoked the idea for this book. Her spirit was lifted and the characters became daily daydreams and the thought of the pens and pencils coming to life became something other than her health to focus on.
