Debra Ruh believes in Social Change and Entrepreneurship. She has been in the Marketing and Communications, Social Marketing, Accessibility and Disability Inclusion industries for many years. She has created several businesses including her current venture Ruh Global (www.RuhGlobal.com). This firm is a social enterprise focused on inclusion of people with disabilities and helping governments adopt and implement the UN's Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities (CRPD). Ruh Global provides innovative yet personal marketing and communication consulting with a superior level of expertise and strong professional reputation. Her firm designs and implements targeted marketing and social media programs that reach and resonate with the disability community while complementing and extending organizations current communication efforts. In 2001, she founded TecAccess, the leading provider of accessible Information & Communication Technologies (ICT) for the largest and fastest growing minority group – People with Disabilities, Baby Boomers, and Veterans with Disabilities in the world. TecAccess merged with SSB BART Group (SSB) in April 2011 and Debra took on the role as the Chief Marketing Officer for SSB until December 2012. She is a proud Mom of two grown children Sara and Kevin Ruh. The oldest is a daughter born with Down syndrome. Her daughter, Sara inspired Debra to start a business that understood the value of including people with disabilities in the workforce. Kevin graduated from VCU Fine Arts Program with BA in Kinetic Imaging and has supported his mother with her business. Debra is proud to be married to Ed Ruh for 30+ years. Debra has won many awards, and has been featured in numerous national media campaigns, for her efforts including: Dell Computer’s “Take Your Own Path” campaign, American Express "Open", Virginia Museum of Fine Arts "Muse Award", Federal Computer Week “Fed Top 100 Award", ANCOR Foundation’s "Community Builder Award", Dell’s “Innovative Business Award", Enterprising Women Magazine’s "Advocacy Award", Northrop Grumman’s "Community Support Award", Wells Fargo/NAWBO “Trailblazer Award", WIT "Leadership Award", America-China Foundation "Social Responsibility Award", Small Business Administration "Person of the Year for Region III Award", and selected as one of the “Most Powerful Women in IT” by Virginia Business Magazine.
