Always creative, Jenna Claesen began painting seriously in oils during a pilot seminar with the National Gallery of Art in 1992. Just a year later she began to experiment with three dimensional art. Her sculptures and visionary oil paintings express the many facets of human emotions. Jenna, a full time professional fine artist, has been juried into over thirty-five art shows and festivals in various locations up and down the east coast. In the spring of 2000 she was named the featured artist of the Pear Blossom Festival and created a commemorative limited edition sculpture with all of the profits going to the Sena Foundation, a non-profit grief counseling organization. Jenna has also enjoyed giving countless sculpting demonstrations at the shows and for local elementary schools. When asked which medium she prefers, Jenna explains how they fulfill different parts of her and how she couldn't have one in her life without the other. Whether she is painting on canvas or sculpting in clay, Jenna bridges emotional expression with her mastery of art form. With each piece created, Jenna not only learns more about the art form, she learns something about herself. She speaks of her career as a wonderful journey of knowledge and self discovery, having the personal courage to embrace every emotion felt in order to create something beautiful. With no formal training, she prides herself in being completely self taught and feels strongly that.... "It's not about the art....it's about the journey"
