Cao Xiaofen is a senior translator and expert member of the Translation Association of China (TAC), proficient in Chinese, English, and Japanese. He was admitted to Hunan Normal University, China in 1977, majored in English and American literature, and graduated in 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts. He has engaged in the study, practice, and teaching of Chinese, English, and Japanese translation for over 40 years, with the current annual translation of about eight hundred thousand words mainly in the fields of history, archaeology, cultural relics, ancient Chinese literature, traditional Chinese medicine, literature, religion, and folk customs. As one of the foremost authorities in archaeology in China, Li Boqian is a Professor Emeritus at Peking University and former dean of its College of Archaeology and Museology. His work focuses on Chinese Bronze Age Archaeology and Chinese Civilization and Early State Archaeology. Spanning over 60 years, his scholarly contributions include the method of " Elements Analysis about Archaeological Cultures" and the documentation of the structure and lineage of Chinese bronze cultures. He was a principal investigator of the Chronological Project of the Xia, Shang, and Zhou Dynasties. He directed the excavations at significant sites such as Erlitou in Henan, Panlongcheng in Hubei, and Qucun in Shanxi. He authored and edited significant works, including Studies on the Structure and Lineage of Chinese Bronze Cultures, etc. He played a key role in establishing the Arthur M. Sackler Museum of Art and Archaeology at Peking University and served as its first director.
