Synopsis

After five years of apprenticeship, Artamos De'spada travels north on a trial mission that will bring him to the climax of his training in the king's secretive Black Knight society. Accompanying him is his mentor, Adrian Rizzo "Rizz", and fellow Black Knight, Falita Kain. Artamos's mission is simple; escort of the king's betrothed safely from the Cromanian boarder to Caltania. It's a five day travel in which Artamos is required to lead Rizz, Falita, and others. But the trip is wrought with danger, and while Artamos struggles to maintain command in the face of his youth he must work to protect the king's betrothed from bandits while facing forbidden love and betrayal.

I grew up in a small rural community having no idea what fantasy fiction was all about. Sure there was science fiction, and I remember well watching “The Planet of the Apes” at a young age, but when I was introduced to fantasy fiction for the first time, I had not a clue. It was my seventh or eighth grade english teacher that introduced me to modern epic fantasy in the form of “The Hobbit” by J.R.R Tolkien. I read that book quickly and moved onto “The Lord of The Rings.” Afterwards, a friend gave me a copy of a book titled “The Crystal Shard” by R.A.Salvatore and I have been hooked on fantasy and reading ever since. It’s not just the fantasy genre that interests me though. I like a good story and read a little bit of everything. Louis L’amour tells many engaging western stories. One of my favorite non-fantasy books is “Gone to Texas” by Forest Carter. Most people know “Gone to Texas” as “The Outlaw Josey Wales,” starring Clint Eastwood. Other authors I enjoy reading include Michael Crichton, Stephen King, George R.R.Martin, Ed Greenwood, Kristin Britain, Terry Brooks, and many others whom are way too numerous to name. So I guess you could say my reading interest–and for that matter movie going interest–are as eclectic as my music interest which ranges from Garth Brooks to Metallica. Aside from writing I enjoy a multitude of outdoor activities with my wife and children. We keep a small laying flock of hens, a handful of pygora goats, and a garden. I also enjoy camping and fishing activities.
