This heart warming children's book is dedicated to the people who lost their lives on 9/11 in the Marriott World Trade Center. This is a true story. The author, Isabelle Tadmoury Florijn, lived as a child in the hotel when her father was the general manager. The two sisters lose their cat, Felix. He runs away as the girls search for him in the World Trade Center complex. Young kids can follow along and look for the cat on every page. Most of the photos outside the twin towers and inside the hotel are real. There is no mention of the terrorist attacks in the story; however this book is intended to help parents talk about what happened. Proceeds from the book go to the 9/11 memorial.

We lived in the Vista International Hotel from the opening in 1981 until 1986. This was before the creation of Battery Park City and therefore we had the most amazing view of the Statue of Liberty. In those days our favorite pastime was rolling skating on the plaza or on the remains of the West-side highway. Hilton International operated the hotel as well as all the key restaurants in the World Trade Center complex which made it easy for us to enjoy meals at the Windows of the World, a restaurant on the top of the North Tower. Ten years after 9/11, when I had kids of my own, I felt I had a special story to tell about a place where I have many happy memories and which no longer exists. I also believe that my sister and I are the only kids who can claim to have lived in the World Trade Center and call it our playground. My intent was to create a simple picture book, with real pictures that would allow parents to broach the topic of 9/11 in a gentle fashion. While the book doesn't reference the tragedy, I wrote it to help parents start a conversation about what happened. I also think that it's important to remember the place as it was, now that the new One World Trade Center tower is up on ground zero. I hope you enjoy the book! Kind Regards, Isabelle Tadmoury Florijn
