Synopsis

"My dad is a seaman," says a young boy, "but we travel the world together." This is one of ten seafarer children's stories that won the 2nd Gig Book Storywriting Contest and is published as part of the Gig Seafarer Children's Stories series. When you read and share this book, you join an ever-expanding circle that gathers round people and things that warm the cockles of our hearts: our children, books and reading, and the strength and resilience of families---especially where the father is mostly away at sea.

A propos du livre

À propos de l'auteur

FRANCESCA CIELO RAVANES is a Civil Engineer from the University of the Philippines in Diliman. She is currently working for a company that values the “Spirit of Family and Fun,” a crucial part of her everyday motivation. She is also an aspiring writer who tries to write, every year, at least two or three stories that reflect her life and viewpoints. She wrote the story My Dad and I Travel the World because her own dad did a lot of traveling. She sees her story as a representation of how children feel whenever they long for their parents. She believes that despite the physical distance that separates family members, they should still be able to feel the love and warmth for one another. ~ ~ ~ TRISTAN YUVIENCO is a self-taught digital illustrator. He does volunteer work for eKindling, a non-profit organization that promotes lifelong learning. He is also a student in Visual Communication at the College of Fine Arts in the University of the Philippines in Diliman. He plans to pursue further studies in digital arts and animation abroad. On top of his studies in school, he also currently serves as President of the League of University Artists on Cartoons and Komiks (LUNAROCK). In his spare time, he enjoys playing the piano.
