Synopsis

Medical Limericks II is the second series of 103 limericks inspired by clinical cases I have observed at Vanderbilt and the VA hospital over my career. The causes of the maladies were often overlooked, leading to misdiagnosis and, at times, death. The scheme of these is fairly true to the classic limerick style. Each makes a good teaching point. Over the last 15 years I have utilized these in lectures in my teaching career at Vanderbilt medical school. Special care was taken in the titles, punch lines, and references. It is amazing how much information that one can convey in five lines. If you like these, there are more to come, over two hundred in the vault.

À propos de l'auteur

William J. Stone received his B.S.E. from Princeton University and his M.D. from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. After completing his residency at Vanderbilt, he became a fellow in nephrology at Cornell University Medical College, NYC. He then served as a Medical Officer (Major) in the U.S. Army 629th Medical Detachment, 3rd Field Hospital in Saigon, Vietnam. After his military service, he returned to Nashville as a staff nephrologist and clinical investigator at the VA Medical Center. He is currently Professor of Medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and also Chief of Nephrology at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He is married to the former Elizabeth (Libby) Roberson. They have three children, Kathryn, Brian, and Lauren.
