Born in Glasgow, raised in Hong Kong, lives in Edinburgh. He is a fan of Nick Hornby who inspired him to write; of Michael McIntyre whose autobiography showed him that you didn't have to be as clever as Nick Hornby to write a good book; of Hunter S. Thompson, who showed him that it's okay to write about drunken, drugged-up miscreants.
