Benjamin was born in 1948 and is a retired agricultural extensionist who served in public services for over thirty years. He is a senior lecturer in extension with the Zimbabwe Open University, after serving in three provinces of Manicaland, Masholand Central and Midlands provinces as head of province. Highlights of his career include taking women extension workers as field staff who competed quite favourably with male extension staff. He also fought for black and white officer integration for them to work in white commercial areas offering the same services. His ambitions in extension were to see the black farmer compete with the white farmers. Benjamin had a family of four children, two sons of whom played cricket and rugby for the country at national level and a daughter. His ambition is to make a contribution to education in agricultural education and extension services.
