Synopsis

Ryan Bonelli is a young journalist who has gotten his first big break when he publishes a story on the plight of wild horses in Nevada for Mother Jones Magazine. He sets aside his plans to become a teacher and begins to investigate a number of controversial events. He is looking into 9-11 along with Senator Paul Wellstone's plane crash. He is working on the anthrax attacks and the false case being made for war in Iraq. He is even poking around Utah and has found new information regarding the fate of three John Wesley Powell explorers who disappeared in southern Utah. He goes to Montana to meet with a former FBI agent. Several days later he is found dead in a motel room. The authorities have ruled his death a suicide, but Ryan's family believes that he was killed. As a friend of the family who is from Montana, I am asked to follow Ryan's trail from his cabin in the mountains above Austin to Flathead Lake. The journey from Nevada to Montana turns out to be more dangerous than I had expected.
