This extra-solar planet has an elliptical orbit which may have allowed life to evolve. With the advent of the Interferometer, and the help of private funding, NDSO, (National Deep Space Operations) assembled a team of scientists to study the conditions of Solaris and its occupying class M planet before the star becomes a supernova, overtaking the entire solar system.
