Synopsis

It was early September 2193, Earth, Los Angeles. The day was normal, hot and still, with the shimmer of a heat mirage, but today there was one of the vanishingly rare patches of cloud. This could be seen as the harbinger of great things. In this instance, great things with profound consequences certainly followed. There would be death and destruction, joy and sadness, war, disaster, and recovery, and delicious sin. A 1969 Austin Healy Sebring in British Racing Green, its top folded down raced through Beverly Hills along Alpine Drive. It had been purchased by the father of the current owner thirty years earlier, when it was an already pre-owned but lovingly maintained extravagance. It was in showroom condition then, and remained so when he passed it on to his son, who also treated it with the care due a classic car over two hundred years on the road. Parts had been replaced many times, but the car still ran, and could do so on biofuels.
