Synopsis

While Melissa is laid up with the chicken pox, Laura and Amber meet Doris Duncan's granddaughter, Beth Anne, who has Down syndrome. They invite Beth Anne to take Melissa's place as a volunteer at the senior center. When grouchy Mrs. Henry breaks her hip, the girls are called on to lend a hand. Laura and Amber reluctantly agree and take Beth Anne along. Though she's afraid of Mrs. Henry at first, Beth Anne soon becomes her companion, even helping Mrs. Henry get out of her wheelchair. In the meantime, Melissa's jealousy comes into play as Beth Anne asks to become a permanent member of The Handy Helpers. Biographie de l'auteur

Rosemary Morgan Heddens recently retired after thirty years as a high school special education teacher. Her characters face many of the same challenges as her former students. Just like her students, her characters don't let those challenges keep them from doing what they believe in. Mrs. Heddens is a native of Arizona and lives in Chino Valley with her husband, Craig. Together, they enjoy hiking, biking, and kayaking. She has two grown children and three grandchildren. She is the author of This Little Light of Mine, a book she wrote with her daughter, Kirstin, who has Down syndrome. Kirstin, an avid reader, was her advisor on this book, as well as the first in the series, The Handy Helpers: A Rocky Start.
