The book gives an indication that THE JATAKA , a collection of the Buddhist parables, is a vast treasure of discourses for deep understanding of management by wisdom. Therefore the study of THE JATAKA can be of immense value to the modern management scholars and practitioners, if they can properly explore the psycho–philosophical messages contained therein, integrate them into their management thinking and practise them in their everyday worklife. There are in all more than five hundred stories ; we have selected only fourteen stories for the present volume. We could have discussed the stories simply by maintaining their numerical sequence. We were confident that even by reading the stories as a series of isolated episodes, erudite scholars and mature readers could have developed some deep understanding of wisdom management.
