Kathy Lindert was a mortgage banker who had panic attacks when driving over bridges. Her panic attacks became so bad that she would physically get sick and then felt like she was going to pass out. This was a silent torture that she lived with; no one really knew she had this fear. Then a close family member started to have fears and was diagnosed with OCD - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. One night at two o’clock in the morning, she couldn’t sleep, so she picked up a copy of Prevention magazine and in that issue was an article about how hypnosis helps with fears and phobias! The article showed how hypnosis was helping people get over their fears and phobias in a few sessions and she was sold! "This was my “aha” moment! I knew that I had found my answer - not only for myself, but for the family member as well." At the same time she remembered she stopped smoking with hypnosis and what a great experience it was. She was so excited that started to look up hypnosis schools. She reasoned that she wanted to learn why this worked, how it worked, and I wanted to be in control. Kathy said "Let’s face it - the word “hypnosis” has a scary association with losing control or even mind control." So she thought "let me learn how it is done so I can control it and so no one can control me." She signed up for classes and learned the most important thing was that you don’t lose control; if you do not want to be hypnotized, you won’t be hypnotized. She volunteered to be the genuine pig most of the time, because she wanted to experience the feeling and be able to understand it better. She also wanted to see if the changes really could happen and most of the time they did. Hypnosis is not an exact science, so sometimes if you don’t want to change or don’t like the change, you will not let it happen. Kathy has helped people stop smoking, lose weight, gain the confidence they need to drive, to pass tests, have bathroom control, have better sex and be better at sports.
