Synopsis

MATT CONNELL: against a sea of troubles, a novel, an adventure in the west of Ireland, tells of Connell's search for peace in a partitioned land. In his struggle and while falling in love, he meets deadly opposition while leading a 1985 peace march. A throwback revolutionary, Jim O'Grady, seeks to destroy Matt's movement. The two men clash at the summit of Croagh Patrick, Ireland's holy mountain; later, bullets fly. The novel's deeper meanings are universal. Among troubles revealed is love, assassination, war, justice, and something else, salutary or punishing with cosmic implications. The theme is of seeking peace when it eluded the Irish people--and in the larger sense--the meaning of peace for humanity.

À propos de l'auteur

David M. Wolf holds a master's degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder and is a graduate of Rutgers College. He has traveled and lived in Ireland. His love for the country--birthplace of maternal grandparents--was immediate, palpable, and enduring. At Dublin, off and on for five years, his interests centered on a theory of knowledge published as PHILOSOPHY THAT WORKS; he also wrote poetry and performed folk music. Gradually, as years passed, prose itself became his focus; he began to write fiction along with other work. MATT CONNELL, his first novel, won a pre-publication Gold Contest 2nd Prize from Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers. His other novels include DAYLIGHT DOLPHIN--his search for human intelligence, a satire in the form of science fiction/fantasy (also on Amazon); ABOVE THE HIGHEST BOUGH, a novel based in Colorado (and briefly in France) in which a young woman climbs an old-growth pine to save it from a timbering conglomerate and faces a life-and-death conflict.
