Synopsis
Armed with courage, a sense of adventure, and high hopes for a better future, a Dutchman dreams of new opportunities in America. After the ambitions of his youth are shattered by the realities of the great economic depression of 1929 and the ravages of World War II, the Dutchman packs up his wife and six children for what he hopes will be a fresh start in a new land. Struggling to learn a new language and adjusting to a new culture, the immigrant works long hours at a variety of jobs to achieve the American Dream, giving his all for the sake of his children and future grandchildren.
