Synopsis

When young Seaman Tom Williams enlists to begin his Navy career he finds his path to Admiral’s rank shaped by many others. The young Raghat tries the submarine service, finds a mentor and friend on his first “boat” and discovers that he excels as a submariner. Events drive his CO to push him to apply for a Naval Officer program and on a path that will take him to MIT, on to other Cold War submarine missions and then because of an off-the-wall wager between two Admirals, into Naval Aviation. He will find a welcome there and earn his way to the top, with some help from some old shipmates. There is humor, intrigue and of course the good guy gets the beautiful girl.

À propos de l'auteur

George Palmer is just an old fashioned farm boy from the Midwest who did his chores at home and paid attention in school (he still carries Mrs. Hemmer's thumbprint on the lobe of his left ear 61years later). He became a Navy man and went through the exotic training that enabled him to become a "Nuke", get a commission and serve his country in three different submarines and several meaningful (but non-exotic) shore tours. Just look at the people he had to contend with! His second career was babysitting Navy bureaucrats. His third is wielding a pencil (with a big eraser) and writing about the Sailors he served with or met along the way. He lives in a very cold state with his wife of 48 years (geothermal not marital!) and vacations in Aruba each February.
