Born in Chicago, Michael J. McCormack is a decorated US Marine who received the Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Frame for his service during the Tet Offensive in the Vietnam War. A graduate from the University of Missouri Journalism School, he pioneered the country's first citizen band radio newspaper.

He dedicates Between the Sheets, Behind Enemy Lines to the millions of men and women who have served in the US military, the 58,261 names on the Vietnam Memorial Wall, and his father, Carl McCormack, Sr., a role model and decorated World War II Marine Corps veteran.
