“A Handful of Ravens, A Murder of Crows” is co-authored by Leah Van Horn and R. Charles Brookes and is her second novel available on Amazon for Kindle. Leah Van Horn ~ Life sometimes throws you a curve ball and I began my writing career when I stumbled into a meeting of lunch time writers at work engrossed in a writing exercise. Never having enjoyed writing when I was in school I tried to slowly back out of the room. Next thing I know my new friends have challenged me to write a short story to be presented the following Thursday to the group. Much to my surprise the minute my pen hit the paper I couldn’t stop telling my story that was developing in my head. I don’t write from an outline and am not formally trained. But I am told I have a knack for spinning a yarn and telling a tale. This was the beginning of This Side of the Flatirons, set in my beloved Colorado about a young woman and her love for horses. I began collaboration with R. Charles Brookes at that time when he helped with the editing and copy write process on this first book. Ms. Van Horn lives in Juneau and Mr. Brookes in Anchorage. Due to the speed and convenience of the internet this did not prove to be much of a handicap in their collaboration. Both feel that it helps to have a male and female writing team so as to get an authentic feel for each gender’s point of view and emotions. This is of particular value for new writers which, of course, they both are. We hope you enjoy reading this book as much as we enjoyed did writing it.
