The book analyses the past half century of the social, economic, and political evolution of Goa since its Liberation from the Portuguese colonial rule in 1961. The historical-cultural analysis helps to understand what unites and divides the Goans. Author's life-experiences and work-experience as historian, teacher and researcher in colonial and postcolonial Goa and elsewhere in India, as well as during last two decades in Portugal, qualify him exceptionally to undertake this analysis.
