Synopsis

The town of Silver Falls is shaken when Michael, a high school student, is dragged into the woods by three students and severely attacked. The leader of the group, Lionel Bestick, beats Michael with his steel toed boots and a rusted pipe. The two other boys are frozen, and unwilling to stop what is happening. Blow after blow, Michael's face is torn off. Michael survives the media firestorm where he is dubbed "The Boy Without a Face." He endures two years in the hospital having seventeen operations to repair his face. He emerges transformed, with a completely new face and a cunning plan for revenge. Michael changes his name to Jonathan and becomes a lawyer and later a judge. He returns to the town where the beating occurred and begins following the three perpetrators in order to set his revenge plan in motion. Using the mask making skills he acquired while in the hospital, Michael begins to frame each perpetrator for a crime, knowing that they will end up inside his own courtroom for sentencing. As Michael destroys his childhood bullies one by one, he also begins to see them as real human beings, and their culpability is called into question. There is also one person in Silver Falls who can see right through Jonathan's new face to his previous identity. Will Jonathan be exposed as Michael before he can destroy the most vicious of the three bullies? Will Michael lose everything, including the woman he loves, all in the name of vengeance? With page turning intensity, Sanders reveals the psychic toll of a life fueled by revenge.
