À propos de l'auteur

Daouda Fall (“Dave”) was born in Dakar, Senegal. He is a community activist, poet and proprietor of a rustic seaside inn called Chez le Poète in the Senegalese town of Toubab Dialaw. Daouda has also lived in the United States, Italy, and Germany. He is fluent in several languages, including French, Italian, his native tongue of Wolof, and English, the latter being his favorite. Having studied English and technology for two years at Columbia University in New York City, he is a firm believer that English is the most important language in today’s global economic climate and is essential for his people to learn in order to improve their economic situation. English is the language of his poetry, and he displays an amazing ability to wield the language to form the creative and moving phrases you will find in this book. Daouda founded and is president of the Global Vision Cultural Center for the Promotion of English and the Arts (GVCC) in Senegal. The mission of the GVCC is to create and maintain an international cultural center near Dakar on property donated by Daouda for this purpose. Its objectives include sharing Senegalese culture with others, hosting musicians and artists from other nations to share their culture, and promoting use of the English language. Daouda is generously donating proceeds from sales of this book to the GVCC. As a self-described “world citizen poet,” Daouda has traveled extensively in Africa and Europe, as well as South America. One of his stated goals is to help the people of the world transcend cultural borders, respect each other, and enjoy life and living together. He sincerely hopes that when you read his poetry, the seeds of peace, justice, and love will find fertile ground in your mind and heart, and that you will be inspired to work to help solve the problems of our times and as he says, “to be a real green thumb for the healthy life of our common plant”—our community, our society, our world.
