From Abba (Aramaic for Father) to Zoe (Septuagint/Koine’ Greek for Eve), Fr. Ron Shibley offers layman’s language explanations of more than 300 words and phrases from historic Anglican liturgies, Scripture, hymns, canticles, and the Creeds of the Church, with Scriptural sources and the opinions of the Fathers and Mothers of the early Church where appropriate. Text offers a head start for any clergyman when writing Homilies or answering parishioner’s questions on complex and confusing terms, including Absolution and Apocrypha to Hades/Hell/Sheol and Propitiation. Also includes history of each of Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, the “Gesima” Sundays, Lent, Easter, and Trinity seasons.
