Synopsis

This book is based upon a true story. It is the story of a Navy whistle-blower who stood up and reported millions of dollars of fraud, waste and abuse on the USS Kitty Hawk, CV-63 (US Navy) in 1985.The story goes on from the initial whistle blowing to expose how the Navy played a part in the Iran-Contra Affair. The author interviewed arms dealers, reporters, military personnel, and government agencies in the gathering of the story.Mr. Jackson testified to Congress on 10-1-1985 to the Seapower Subcommittee. He then went on to meet with his local Congressmen, Lee Hamilton (Iran-Contra Hearings) and Tom Foley (Speaker of the House).Robert Jackson believed in what he was doing and faced death threats, and repercussions from the Navy and Federal Government in the pursuit of the story. There are two stories that intertwine because this is a memoir of my time in the U.S. Navy. The italics page before each chapter is my mind wandering as I lay close to death in a VA hospital. Then the chapters that tell what I found.Buy the Book of Documents, it has ALL the documents that support the memoir. This is a true story. For you who want to know why I was in the hospital when I wrote this - I was in for diverticulitis and because the VA allowed people to smoke I vomited so bad I ripped my esophagus and that caused internal bleeding. The VA did not give me any help, and I blacked out due to lack of blood. I had bled out three units of blood. Now, you know the story behind the story. The author hopes the reader is both entertained and enlightened by the story. For more information go to Wikipedia: Robert W. Jackson
